If you need Category C1 entitlement for ambulance, patient-transport or healthcare driving work, the theory stage uses the DVSA large-vehicle theory tests: Module 1A multiple choice and Module 1B hazard perception.
Kent Training can support the process from your D4 medical and provisional C1 application through to the two theory tests, practical driver training and DVSA practical tests.
The two theory tests are separate bookings. You can take them on the same day or on different days, and you can take them in either order.
The theory tests sit between your provisional-entitlement application and practical C1 training.
Complete the Group 2 medical examination required when applying for your first C1 provisional entitlement.
Complete the D2 application and send the required documents to DVLA with your completed D4.
Wait for your licence to return showing the provisional entitlement required before booking the large-vehicle theory tests.

Make sure you understand regulatory, warning and directional signs relevant to large-vehicle driving.
Study the DVSA material covering goods vehicles, vehicle safety, loading, dimensions and professional driving.
Practise recognising developing hazards early rather than waiting until a situation has already become urgent.
Once both theory tests are passed, you can move forward with the practical C1 licence stages.
Candidates who need the large-vehicle theory stage normally complete Module 1A multiple choice and Module 1B hazard perception.
