D2 provisional licence applications
Support and guidance with the provisional vocational licence application process.
Following a detailed review, Kent Training has made the difficult decision to stop directly delivering commercial HGV and PCV practical driver training courses from Monday 2 November 2026.
Kent Training will also cease operating as a DVSA Customer Site for commercial vehicle practical driving tests.
From Monday 2 November 2026, Kent Training will no longer directly deliver commercial HGV and PCV practical driver training courses.
From this date, we will also cease operating as a DVSA Customer Site for commercial vehicle practical driving tests.
Once our Customer Site closes, the only remaining public DVSA commercial vehicle driving test centre in Kent will be the DVSA’s own centre in Gillingham.
We recognise that this will significantly reduce the availability of local commercial vehicle testing and may result in longer journeys and fewer choices for candidates and training providers throughout the county.
This decision has not been taken lightly. The cumulative effect of changes to the DVSA commercial driver training and testing system since 2021, together with significantly increased operating costs and changes in market demand, has made our existing direct-delivery model commercially unviable.
Kent Training is not withdrawing from the commercial driver training sector entirely. We will continue to provide candidates and employers with a coordinated booking and support service.

This change applies only to the direct delivery of practical HGV and PCV driver training and our operation as a DVSA Customer Site for commercial vehicle driving tests.
All our other vocational training, testing and compliance services will continue as usual, including our forklift, plant, streetworks, ADR, Driver CPC, transport management, recovery, workplace safety and associated training programmes.
We remain fully committed to expanding these services and continuing to develop Kent Training as one of the region’s leading vocational training providers.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to every candidate, employer, instructor, examiner, referral partner and customer who has supported our HGV and PCV driver training operation over the years.
It has been a privilege to help so many people obtain their commercial driving licences, develop new careers and secure employment within the transport industry. We are incredibly proud of what our candidates and training team have achieved.
Although the way we provide HGV and PCV training support is changing, our commitment to helping people gain qualifications, improve their skills and progress into employment remains exactly the same.
Thank you for your continued trust and support.
Our team can still support you with licence applications, medicals, theory tests, Driver CPC and arranging practical training through one of our selected local partners.
